What Is Mindfulness?

Mindfulness is the practice of bringing your attention to the present moment with full acceptance and non-judgement. It lets us absorb the richness of the moment instead of going through life with half of our attention on the past or future or our own mental chatter.

During this 8 week mindfulness course you will be re-training yourself to live more in the moment, deal stress, anxiety, worry etc and live your best life. Much like we exercise our physical body to be fit and healthy, mindfulness is training for our minds. It takes time and patience, and much like going to the gym, the more that you put into it the more you will get out of it.


Scientific Evidence For Mindfulness

It is one of the most scientifically tested forms of Meditation and the results are compelling. Currently there are over 3,000 research articles on Mindfulness and there are many more experiments in the pipeline.

Neuroscientists have discovered that after just 8 weeks of mindfulness practice, the brain literally changes shape. They have found changes in the cerebral cortex, in the hippocampus and in the amygdala all indicating that we become: happier, more focused, more compassionate (to ourselves and others), better able to deal with anxiety and stress.

They found that learning becomes easier and we are better able to remember. ​They also found that mindfulness slows down the ageing process!

The 8 Week Course

Each week you will receive comprehensive notes and an accompanying recorded mindfulness practice for use at home. So that by the end of the 8 weeks you will have a “Mindfulness Toolkit” of information and meditations that will help you deal with any situation in your life.

Over the duration of the course, we will cover topics such as

  • The explanation: What mindfulness is exactly & what it isn’t
  • The scientific proof for Mindfulness: the most scientifically tested form of meditation.
  • Simple ways in which you can easily interweave it into your everyday life : at work and home
  • How mindfulness can help you to deal with anxiety
  • How to respond to your life rather than react to it
  • Living with acceptance and non-judgement and how they can transform your life.
  • Using mindfulness to manage emotions to feel more at peace, calm and in control.
  • Cultivating compassion – Learning how to befriend yourself, the longest and most important relationship you will ever have.
  • The body scan for a restful night’s sleep, cultivating a mind body connection and working with your body to achieve your goals.

Your facilitator

I have read, studied and practiced mindfulness for the past 15 years. During that time I have trained with some of the leading experts, gone on retreats all over the world and held some of my own. I have also worked teaching 8 week mindfulness courses in the community, in companies and as 1:1’s.

I am passionate about mindfulness as I can honestly say that it has changed my life! I know that can sound very OTT at times and it wasn’t this sudden flash of light that came down and I was enlightened. Sitting lotus position, emanating love (wouldn’t that be wonderful!) No, it was over time and with patience and commitment I found that old behaviours that didn’t serve me well melted away, negative beliefs no longer held me captive and I wasn’t a victim of my emotions (finally!)

The changes were incremental and yet they were very obvious once I became aware of them. I actually began to feel more comfortable within myself which I never thought possible having suffered with depression for most of my life. With that everything changed for the better.
